Boston College forced two punts to open the game before capitalizing with a 36-yard touchdown run from Jordan McDonald, taking a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.
After two punts from each team to open the second quarter, Boston College posted a second touchdown, this one from Kye Robichaux, taking a 13-0 lead. Pittsburgh responded with an eight-play, 75-yard drive, cutting the lead to 13-7.
After punting on the ensuing drive, Boston College junior defensive lineman Ty Clemons plucked an interception and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown, giving the Eagles a 20-7 lead. Pitt mustered a 57-yard field goal before the half to cut the lead to 20-10 entering the second half.
