Quinn Ewers’ struggles have been evident. The Texas starting quarterback has been unable to deliver the spark needed to light up the team's offense. With the playoffs fast approaching, that has seen an increasing call from fans for Steve Sarkisian to play Arch Manning.Texas insider Justin Nash, though, believes Quinn Ewers is still the better candidate to start for the Longhorns (11-2). While acknowledging the talent of Manning, who has been fantastic in a couple of starts this season, he made known why he feels it's advantageous to start Ewers.“I would also like to say I'm not an Arch Manning hater. His raw talent exceeds Quinn's, but I believe Quinn gives us our best shot to win,” Nash wrote. “Just because I'm defending Quinn doesn't mean I hate Arch.”Quinn Ewers discusses where the SEC championship game was lostGeorgia (11-2) claimed the SEC championship on Saturday following a 22-19 victory over Texas in Atlanta. While the Longhorns had much better game stats, the Bulldogs edged them out once again. Quinn Ewers explained where his team lost the game."We were moving the ball well throughout the entire first half and like Coach Sark was saying, we had plenty of opportunities,” Ewers said after the game. "We shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times and got into some third and longs that were just hard to get out of."Ewers wasn't particularly impressive against the Bulldogs, completing 27-of-46 passes for 358 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. He saw Arch Manning come on for him in some parts of the game.Quinn Ewers promises a stronger Texas in the playoffsAfter Texas failed to secure the SEC championship, the focus now lies on the College Football Playoff. Quinn Ewers assured fans that the Longhorns will come back much stronger in the playoff.“We just didn't capitalize at the end of the day,” Ewers said Saturday. “I think it was all on us. We had plenty of opportunities to go capitalize. Some games go that way. We're definitely going to take a long look at it and go from here. ... But with the new 12-team playoff, we get to keep playing ball.”Texas is scheduled to host Clemson (10-3) in the first round of the playoffs on Dec. 21. Should they come out victorious in Austin, they will play in the Peach Bowl against Arizona State (11-2). There's a belief that the Longhorns still have a strong chance to compete for the national title.
