Sherrone Moore and Michigan get major help for Bryce Underwood as 5-star prospect ditches Kalen DeBoer's Alabama to commit with Wolverines

Michigan's Sherrone Moore secured the commitment of edge McHale Blade on Monday, and more good news is headed the program's way. On Sunday, the Wolverines landed an elite target of Kalen DeBoer's Alabama.

Colton Dermer, a five-star long snapper from Sandra Day O'Connor (Arizona), committed to Michigan, according to On3's EJ Holland. At the 2025 Kohl's Spring Western Showcase, Dermer clocked in an average snap time of .66 seconds and registered a 4.93-second 40-yard dash.

"BOOOOMMM!!!. Michigan has landed a commitment from elite long snapper Colton Dermer. Ranked as a five-star on Kohl's #GoBlue," Holland tweeted.

Following the announcement, Dermer called his decision a "dream come true."

"A life long dream come true! Incredibly proud to announce I am 100% committed to the University of Michigan! A special thanks to my parents who helped me chase my dream," Dermer tweeted.

Additionally, Kohl's Professional Camps, which provides professional training to the athletes and analyzes players 150 events across the U.S., praised Dermer's skill set.

"Dermer is a prospect in the 2026 class with elite snapper talent, great size, and tremendous athleticism," Kohls wrote on Saturday, via Sports Illustrated. "He rips the cover off the ball with impressive velocity and extremely tight ball rotation."

Dermer trains with Rausch Kicking's training camp's Steve Rausch, who also works closely with Wolverines long snapper Trent Middleton. Moore's Class of 2026 has 10 commits, including Brady Smigiel, Matt Ludwig and Blade, among others.

Sherrone Moore's Michigan Wolverines is on an intense recruiting spree, eyeing elite high school prospects across the country. On Monday, they welcomed four-star edge McHale Blade to their roster.

"From day one, Michigan has been a top school," Blade said on Friday, via On3. "They have the best of both worlds with the academic piece and the NFL development. ... Michigan is where I want to be.

Blade is the No. 21 edge in the 2026 class and the No. 4 prospect in Illinois (according to the On3 Industry rankings). He received offers from several top programs, including USC and Notre Dame, but chose to team up with Bryce Underwood.
