The race for the Heisman Trophy continues to heat up with Ashton Jeanty and Travis Hunter as the two favorites. Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has thrown his weight behind Ashton Jeanty's camp.
Parsons retweeted an X post highlighting the Boise State Broncos running back as the first player, besides Barry Sanders and Ricky Williams, to record 2000 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns through 11 games.
He added the following comment to his post:
"We shouldn’t even be discussing the Heisman !!! Ashton Jeanty is the Heisman winner!!"
With the Cowboys in dire need of a new running back, and having as bad a season as they're having, it's rumored that they could grab Ashton Jeanty in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
Fans approved of Pardon's support for his potential future teammate:
"Sticking up for your future teammate love to see it."
However, it seems that a majority of the crowd is sticking by Travis Hunter and not Ashton Jeanty:
"Sorry bro but it’s Travis killing on both sides of the ball, Jeanty is the best RB hands down. Heisman belongs to Hunter."
"I love Jeanty but he is playing against subpar competition. It would be no contest if he put up those numbers in the SEC or Big 10. Hunter is also playing a weak schedule but it is better than Jeanty and he is so impactful on both sides of the ball."
"Playing two ways is simply a lot more valuable than playing one."
Jason Whitlock said the race for the Heisman should at least be a close one:
Travis Hunter leapfrogs Ashton Jeanty despite Colorado's defeat in Week 13
Ashton Jeanty ran 169 yards with one rushing touchdown in 19 carries over the weekend. The performance was a big reason behind Boise State's victory over Wyoming 17-13 on Saturday. However, it seems that the oddsmakers aren't rewarding overall results for the Heisman race.
Despite this win, Travis Hunter improved his odds of winning the Heisman. This was even though Hunter's Colorado Buffaloes fell to Kansas 37-21. The wide receiver had another impressive game with 125 yards and two touchdown catches in eight receptions. Bet 365 is currently giving him -550 odds of winning the trophy, while Jeanty has odds of +600.
