Coach Prime's ex-wife Pilar Sanders has been a pillar of support for her kids. She encouraged her two sons, Shilo and Shedeur, and their Colorado teammate Travis Hunter to continue their grind in the offseason.
In a motivational Instagram post on May 14, after Colorado's spring practice this year, Pilar suggested that the Buffs players need to keep working on preparation in the offseason, despite no football action.
"There’s never an off season! If you’re not In Season then you’re prepping for one!" Pilar wrote.
Pilar's inspirational post for the three Colorado stars appears to have paid off handsomely. The Buffs have been one of the most improved teams in the country.
Shedeur, Shilo, and Hunter have all played critical roles in helping No. 23 Colorado (8-3, 6-2 Big 12) get recognized as one of the best programs nationwide.
Shedeur, Shilo and Hunter all joined Colorado in the 2023 offseason. The Buffs finished with a dismal 4-8 record that year and failed to qualify for a bowl game. However, the trio put in the hard work during the offseason, and the results have been spectacular.
This season, the Buffs have secured bowl eligibility. They were also in close contention to reach the College Football Playoff before suffering a shock defeat against Kansas in Week 13.
Pilar Sanders' son Shedeur Sanders is in the hunt to win the Heisman Trophy
Although Colorado won't make it to the playoffs this season, Pilar Sanders' younger son Shedeur Sanders is in contention to win the Heisman Trophy.
Shedeur has racked up 308 of 413 passes for 3,488 yards and thrown 30 touchdowns, with seven interceptions. He also has four rushing touchdowns on 81 carries.
Travis Hunter is reportedly leading the Heisman race after Week 13. The Buffs will conclude their regular season on Saturday when Colorado hosts Oklahoma State at Folsom Field this week.
