Florida State head coach Mike Norvell is enthusiastic as the Seminoles gear up to start their 2024 season with a Week 0 showdown against Georgia Tech in Dublin. The game, airing on ESPN at noon on Aug. 24, marks the beginning of Norvell's fifth season with FSU, and he's eager to build on last year's success and aim for a spot in the College Football Playoff (CFP).
Despite losing 13 players to the NFL draft, Norvell is confident in his team. Speaking to On3, he expressed his enthusiasm, saying:
“I cannot wait to watch this team play, and I really am with everything that I have, just excited about the moment and the opportunity. I like this team. I like how this team has come together.”

According to Norvell, the group has been putting in the hard work without much prodding.
“These guys, you put the work in front of them, and they go running after it,” Norvell said. “I really have been proud of them for their approach to it. This is not a team that sits around and complains about what’s in front of them. They go and work and attack it.”
Last season, the Seminoles had a promising 11-0 start, including close victories over Boston College and Clemson. However, their playoff hopes were dashed when quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending ankle injury. The team’s struggles without Travis kept it out of the CFP.
Looking ahead, Norvell announced that Oregon State transfer DJ Uiagalelei will take over as the starting quarterback for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, filling in for Travis.
The anticipation for the game is sky-high, with ESPN’s College Gameday making its first international appearance and the event already sold out.
As the Seminoles prepare to face the Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Norvell’s optimism and faith in his team are setting the stage for an exciting season opener.
Three ACC teams ready to challenge Mike Norvell’s Florida State for 2024 crown

As fans look ahead to the 2024 season, three ACC teams are gearing up to give Mike Norvell's Florida State a run for its money.
Clemson Tigers
Last season, Clemson finished with a 9-4 record, falling short of expectations with a 4-4 ACC finish. But that only makes it more dangerous this year. Coach Dabo Swinney and his team are hungry for redemption.
With the return of starting quarterback Cade Klubnik, who threw for 2,844 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, Clemson is ready to roar back. It is already ranked 14th in early preseason polls and has got its sights set on the top spot.
Miami Hurricanes
Miami might just have the most underrated roster in the ACC, outside of Florida State. According to 247 Sports, it has five players in ESPN’s preseason Top 100 list.
The star to watch is quarterback Cam Ward, who had a standout year with 3,736 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. He’s a strong contender for the best playmaker in the conference.
North Carolina Tar Heels
Don’t sleep on North Carolina. The Tar Heels are flying under the radar, but they’ve got the potential to shake things up. Quarterback Conner Harrell is the key player to watch. If he can stay calm under pressure, Chapel Hill could have a lot to celebrate this season.
