The Zips, meanwhile, won't be bowl-eligible in 2024 but are looking to close their season on a high note. Akron is 3-8 entering Tuesday night's game, coming off a dominant 38-17 win over Kent State in their last time out.
This MAC showdown may not have season-altering implications but each team will look to go out with a win in their final game of the regular season. In a tightly contested first half, the Zips mustered a 7-0 lead entering the locker rooms at halftime.
A 14-point fourth quarter propelled Toledo, forcing overtime versus Akron after going down 14-0. Unfortunately for Toledo, Akron scored in overtime before forcing a stop to secure a 21-17 win to upset the Rockets.
