Colorado coach Deion Sanders aka, Coach Prime, led the Buffaloes to an impressive 9-3 regular season record. His team beat the Oklahoma State Cowboys 52-0 in Week 14 of college football action on November 28. The Buffs coach was emotional at Folsom Field as he paid tribute to the departing players during Senior Day.
On Monday, Sanders posted pictures on Instagram of some of his departing players from their last home game. He captioned the appreciative post:
"Family #CoachPrime @cubuffsfootball (pics by @merekdarckel)," Coach Prime wrote.

Colorado's popular two-way star Travis Hunter, who has had a stellar season, dropped a heartwarming comment on the post:
"Father and coach," Hunter wrote.

Travis Hunter shared a special relationship with Coach Prime
Travis Hunter and Coach Prime share a close relationship. The latter convinced the former to enter the transfer portal from Jackson State to follow him to Colorado when he was appointed coach in 2022. During an early season news conference, Deion Sanders revealed the strength of his relationship with Hunter.
“We talk about everything,” Sanders said. "He’s (Hunter) a good human being, he’s not smoking, not drinking, not outside whoring, not doing crazy things. He’s got one of the highest GPAs on the team, he’s a great human being, and he can play, his character is second to none. That’s why I don’t mind fishing with him (Hunter)."
Hunter and Sanders have become firm fishing friends. They went up to the charismatic coach's ranch in Texas during Colorado's bye week to fish as they rejuvenated for the remainder of the season.
Coach Prime further elaborated on the strong bond that he shares with the Heisman-contending star and the topics of their conversations.
"And he (Hunter) coming to Texas," Sanders said. "And we’re not talking about fishing on the boat, although we talk junk to each other all the time, but we’re talking about life. We’re talking about the next move. We talk about land acquisition. We’re talking about so many different things of life, fathering, you know, loving, how the family plays a role in all of this.
"So it’s just a delight to have caught him coming straight out of high school.”
Most recently, Sanders was livid when Travis Hunter wasn't named one of the finalists for the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award that recognizes the best defensive back in the country. He even offered him the one that he won in 1988 when he played for the Florida State Seminoles.
Coach Prime revealed during his Week 14 weekly news conference that he would attend the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York on December 14. Hunter is expected to win the coveted accolade at the ceremony.
