Star two-way player Travis Hunter and the Colorado Buffaloes (6-2) had an impressive offensive performance in their 34-23 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats (5-3) on Saturday night. It was a vital in-conference win for the Buffaloes as they close in on BYU and Iowa State in the Big 12 championship race.
Travis Hunter played a big part in the win. Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders allowed the Buffaloes (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) to establish a lead early on and never let go.
Travis Hunter stats against Cincinnati

All eyes were on Travis Hunter's performance ahead of the game. He has been nursing a shoulder injury he sustained two games earlier against then-No.18 Kansas State that has limited his playing time in the previous two games.
However, Hunter looked healthy Saturday night and put together a spectacular performance. Hunter had nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Also, he had two total tackles, including a solo effort and four pass breakups.
Hunter's performance allowed the Buffaloes to establish a lead early in the game and never let the Bearcats take it. After the Bearcats (5-3, 3-2) tied the game at 14 early in the second quarter, the Buffaloes took the lead later in the quarter and never relinquished it.
How did last night's performance help Travis Hunter's Heisman case?
Heading into the week, Hunter was fourth in Heisman odds behind Cameron Ward, Ashton Jeanty and Dillon Gabriel. However, he was a distant fourth as his odds were only +1500 on FanDuel. After his performance this week, he is back as one of the primary contenders for the award.
After last night's game, FanDuel has increased Hunter's Heisman odds to +330. That puts him tied for second behind Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel and among the definitive top four contenders. The favourites are as follows:
- Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel (+230)
- Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter (+330)
- Miami quarterback Cameron Ward (+330)
- Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (+380)
After those top four players, the odds drop dramatically to the fifth contender, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, who has +1600 odds.
Heading into this week's game against Cincinnati, it appeared that Hunter was out of the Heisman conversation because of his injuries, but now he is right back in it. With a few more big performances, he could win the award.
