Trevor Etienne initially joined the Florida Gators as a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He made an immediate impact as a true freshman, rushing for 719 yards and six touchdowns on 118 carries, while adding nine receptions for 66 yards.
Once again sharing the backfield with Montrell Johnson in 2023, Etienne finished with 753 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 131 carries. He caught 21 passes for 172 yards and one touchdown. Following the season, he joined the Georgia Bulldogs via the transfer portal. He has 477 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 95 carries, adding 23 receptions for 140 yards.
Etienne has not featured in recent weeks due to a rib injury, and it remains to be seen if he can regain his form when fully fit.
If he opts for a change in scenery via the transfer portal, here's a closer look at where he could land.
5 potential landing spots via transfer portal for Trevor Etienne
#1. Clemson Tigers
While the Clemson Tigers rank No. 26 in rushing offense, much of that production comes from Phil Mafah, who will likely enter the 2025 NFL draft. Meanwhile, Etienne has a strong relationship with Clemson's running back coach C.J. Spiller, who he labeled as a big brother figure during his recruiting process. Furthermore, his real older brother, Travis Etienne, played at the school. If he does enter the portal, look for the Tigers to be involved.
#2. Ohio State Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes rank No. 48 in rushing offense, however, their one-two punch of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins are both draft eligible. Ohio State will need more production from the position and could look to acquire Etienne via the transfer portal.
#3. LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers, along with the Florida Gators and Clemson Tigers, were among the three finalists to land Trevor Etienne out of high school. He originally hails from Louisiana and grew up less than 90 minutes away from the Tigers campus.
Additionally, they average just 117.5 rushing yards per game, ranking No. 109 out of 134 programs. They could look to add Etienne to improve their running back room.
#4. UCLA Bruins
The UCLA Bruins have been among the worst teams in the nation at moving the ball on the ground. They average just 87.7 rushing yards per game, ranking No. 130 in that category. UCLA could offer Trevor Etienne a lead back role in a major market.
#5. Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs will likely look to keep their one-two punch intact. The opportunity to continue competing for national titles while playing a key role on offense could be enough to convince Trevor Etienne to remain with the program.
