On Tuesday, UNC quarterback Max Johnson’s girlfriend, Adrienne Davis, shared images from the CMA Fest 2025 on Instagram. Davis posted a carousel of photos she took while attending the festival, which took place at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. She added a caption to the post, writing:
“Thank you for having us, Nashville.”

The CMA Fest is a country music festival held annually in Nashville by the Country Music Association. The festival is usually held in June. It features concerts and interactive sessions involving artists and fans.
Max Johnson joined North Carolina following the 2023 season and stints at LSU and Texas A&M. He competed for the Tar Heels’ starting quarterback job with Conner Harrell, seeking to replace Drake Maye, who was heading to the NFL.
Despite edging Harrell out in the race, he would go on to miss the entire season. This was due to an injury he sustained in his right leg during the season opener against Minnesota. Johnson is set to return to Chapel Hill for the 2025 season. With the season drawing close, North Carolina coach Bill Belichick has provided an update on his recovery.
Bill Belichick’s update on Max Johnson’s return
Bill Belichick confirmed that the experienced quarterback has improved compared to how he was in the spring. Nonetheless, the legendary coach did not give a specific date for his return. He said:
“Max is doing very well. His rehab has been long, and I have a lot of admiration for him. It’s a tough injury, but nobody’s worked harder than he has, and he certainly is able to do a lot more than he was last spring. We’ll see exactly where he is when things start, but it’s a whole lot closer, and we certainly expect to see him out there. So, it’s been very encouraging.”
Max Johnson is presently one of the most experienced quarterbacks in college, having spent the past five seasons in three different D-I programs. He comes from football royalty, being the son of Pro Bowl quarterback Brad Johnson. He began his college career at LSU in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
He started 14 games for LSU over two seasons, throwing for 3,883 yards and 35 touchdowns. He transferred to Texas A&M ahead of 2022. He threw for 1,969 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons for the Aggies.
