Notre Dame has had an excellent season, only losing once, but it has not had a challenging schedule. Before the win over No. 8-ranked Indiana in the first round of the playoffs, the Fighting Irish had only defeated one other top 25-ranked opponent. They beat No. 22-ranked Army 49-14 on Nov. 23.

Conversely, Georgia has two losses, but both came to strong opponents. They lost to No. 14-ranked Ole Miss and No. 11-ranked Alabama. Despite those losses, they have several wins over top-ranked opponents, including No. 16-ranked Clemson, No. 3-ranked Texas (twice) and No. 7-ranked Tennessee. As a result, the Bulldogs are one of the most battle-tested teams this season and are favored to advance.
