Oklahoma State vs Colorado: Preview
Oklahoma State is a 16.5-point road underdog and the over/under is set at 65 points.
The Cowboys started the year 3-0 but have lost eight straight games. With the lackluster season, many are wondering if Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy will retire or be fired; however, he expects to be back next season.
“There ain’t no way the old lady is letting me retire," Gundy said on Saturday, via Heartland College Sports. '(I) have as much energy now as when I took this job. And most of you guys think I’m crazy, which I am, when I get up in the morning (at) about 5:30, I start thinking about football.
"And even though we’re in a really tough situation here, which we haven’t been in in 18 years, I’m excited to come to work tomorrow and try to find a way to beat Colorado. I just like that stuff. The outside noise, which I don’t know about because I don’t read social media, doesn’t bother me.”
Oklahoma State will start Maealiuaki Smith who has thrown for 419 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Ollie Gordon II has rushed for 870 yards and 13 TDs, while De'Zhaun Stribling has caught 50 passes for 872 yards and six TDs.
Meanwhile, Colorado had a path to the College Football Playoff and the Big 12 championship in their own hands. However, the Buffaloes lost to Kansas but can still play in the Big 12 championship game.
The Buffaloes need to win and have some results go their way. They'll need BYU to lose to Houston and Texas Tech to beat West Virginia or need at least two of the other three first-place teams (BYU, Iowa State and Arizona State) to lose on Saturday.
Colorado coach Deion Sanders knows the team has to play better than they did last week.
"We started smelling ourselves a little bit," Sanders said on Saturday, via USA Today. "That’s what I just told our team. We got intoxicated with the success. We got intoxicated with the multitude of articles and the assumption that we’re this and the assumption that we’re that. And we did not play CU football. Therefore, we got our butts kicked."
Colorado is led by Shedeur Sanders who has thrown for 3,488 yards, 30 TDs and seven interceptions. Travis Hunter has caught 82 passes for 1,036 yards and 11 TDs.
Defensively, Hunter has three interceptions, BJ Green II has 6.5 sacks and Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig has 81 tackles.
Colorado will come out aggressive with its Big 12 championship hopes hanging in the balance. The Buffaloes' offense should overwhelm Oklahoma State's defense and cruise to a win.
Prediction: Colorado 47, Oklahoma State 28
