The San Jose State Spartans (6-3) will take on the Boise State Broncos (8-1) at home in Week 12 of the 2024 College Football season on Saturday. After Brent Brennan left to become the coach of the Arizona Wildcats, Ken Niumatalolo was brought in this offseason to take his place.
So far, the San Jose State Spartans are 4-0 at home (3-2 Mountain West Conference). Last week, they emerged victorious with a 24-13 win against the Oregon State Beavers. So who will be the Spartans' starting quarterback against Boise State?

San Jose State Spartans' starting quarterback against the Boise State Broncos in Week 12
Walker Eget will be the starting quarterback for the San Jose State Spartans in their game against Boise State. Initially, Emmett Brown was named the QB1, but during their game against Nevada, Eget replaced Brown in the third quarter and has started every game since. He has thrown for 1,312 yards and three touchdowns passing, with six interceptions.
Coming out of West Ranch High School, Eget joined the Spartans as part of the 2021 recruiting class. He redshirted his freshman campaign, making just one appearance on the field.
In 2022, he played in three games with just one passing attempt. After not seeing the field last season, many fans did not expect him to take over the starting quarterback job this year. However, he made his mark during their game against Oregon State, passing for 395 yards and a touchdown to help the Spartans emerge victorious.
San Jose State's quarterback depth chart
Apart from Walker Eget, the Spartans also have Emmett Brown as an option in their quarterback depth chart. Brown opened the season as the QB1 and threw for 1,621 yards and 16 touchdowns, with five interceptions, before being replaced by Eget.
Brown began his collegiate career with the Washington State Cougars in 2022. He redshirted his freshman campaign before appearing in one game for the Cougars last season where he completed 2-of-4 passes for 14 yards. Brown transferred to the Spartans this offseason.
The Spartans have a tough battle ahead if they want to compete for the conference title. It will be interesting to see if Walker Eget can help them win their remaining games of the regular season to be a contender for the Mountain West title in Niumatalolo's debut campaign.
