South Carolina vs. Clemson: Preview
Clemson is a 3-point favorite at home, while the over/under is set at 49 points.
The Gamecocks are one of the hottest teams in the country as of late and could enter the playoff picture even with three losses if they beat Clemson.
"I am not dumb, I know it's magnified, and it's magnified this year because of what we've done, it has big implications because of what we've done (this season)," Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer said about South Carolina's playoff hopes, via AOL.
South Carolina is led by quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who's thrown for 2,110 yards, 17 touchdowns and six interceptions. Running back Raheim Sanders has rushed for 821 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Clemson, meanwhile, has quietly snuck back into playoff contention and could even play in the ACC championship game if Miami loses.
Tigers coach Dabo Swinney believes if Clemson wins this game, it should be enough for the school to make the playoffs.
"We're a good football team. We're not perfect. We're flawed like everybody else, but we're a team that I think can play with anybody in the country," Swinney said, via Yahoo. "When we go win this game and we're 10-2, I don't see how you can't put us in."
Clemson is led by Cade Klubnik, who's thrown for 2,761 yards, 29 touchdowns and four interceptions. Phil Mafah has rushed for 1,012 yards and eight touchdowns, and Antonio Williams has 689 receiving yards.
This should be a great contest, as both South Carolina and Clemson have been playing great football lately.
The Gamecocks offense is rolling with Sellers at center, as the dual-threat quarterback should be able to pose some problems to Clemson. Yet, the Tigers' defense has gotten better over the weeks, and Klubnik is playing great football.
This should be a back-and-forth contest, but look for the Tigers to edge out a win at home and likely punch their ticket to the College Football Playoff and possibly the ACC championship game.
Prediction: Clemson 27, South Carolina 24.
