The Texas Longhorns lost a close SEC Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 15. The Longhorns gave it their best shot but were no match for Kirby Smart's well-oiled.
Ahead of the Longhorns' College Football quarterfinal game against the Clemson Tigers, look at their projected starting quarterback and potential depth chart.

Texas Longhorns' starting QB against the Clemson Tigers
Quinn Ewers has started all but three games this season for the Texas Longhorns. The junior-year quarterback has been a calming influence in games, and he'll be tasked with continuing as their starter against the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoffs Quarterfinals.
Ewers was the country's top recruit in 2021, and he's currently projected to be a late first- or early second-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. However, Ewers has been distinctly average as the Longhorns' starting quarterback, with some analysts calling for Steve Sarkisian to try out the other quarterbacks on the depth chart.
However, Ewers's spot as the Longhorns' QB1 is secure for the rest of the season. The Southlake-born shot-caller will get to add to his 2,665 passing yards and 25 touchdowns in the CFB playoffs.
Texas Longhorns QB depth chart
According to the College Football Network, the Texas Longhorns have three quarterbacks on their depth chart: starter Quinn Ewers and backups Arch Manning and Trey Owens.
Arch Manning is the most popular backup, and a certain section of the Longhorns' fan base believes he should be starting. The New Orleans-born shot-caller is one of the most exciting backup quarterbacks in all of football, and he has shone when called upon to replace an injured Ewers in the 2024 college football season. Expect him to be raring to go if the Longhorns' QB1 goes down with an injury anytime during the playoffs.
Freshman Trey Owens is next up on the Longhorns depth chart. The Cy-Fair High School prospect was highly recruited coming out of high school, and he elected to take his talents to the collegiate football powerhouse, the Longhorns. While Owens has yet to carve out a niche in the program's starting lineup, he's undoubtedly the next after Arch Manning.
