Texas vs Texas A&M: Preview
Texas is a 5.5-point favorite, while the over/under is set at 48.5 points. The winner of this game could face Georgia in the SEC Championship game.
The Longhorns are coming off a blowout win over Kentucky last week. Texas has been one of the best teams in college football this season, but there have been some questions about their resume as Texas doesn't have one notable win.
It's a tough spot for the Longhorns going to Kyle Field at night, but Texas coach Steve Sarkisian believes the team is ready to compete.
“We’ll be ready. I’m gonna leave it at that,” Sarkisian said on Monday, via On3. “I’m not a big get-out-of-routine guy. So our normal routine will be our routine. We’ll get in there Friday, and we’ll be ready to play Saturday.”
Texas is led by Quinn Ewers who's thrown for 2,089 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Quintrevion Wisner has rushed for 626 yards and three touchdowns, while Gunnar Helm leads the team with 544 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensively, Texas is led by Andrew Mukuba who has four interceptions, Anthony Hill Jr. has 7.5 sacks, who also leads the team with 79 tackles.
Texas A&M, meanwhile, is coming off an upset loss to Auburn in OT in a disappointing performance. The Aggies will need to likely win out to make the College Football Playoff.
“A very disappointing Saturday," Aggies coach Mike Elko said, via SI. "It’s very challenging when you let the ball go over your head ... (but) the football gods gifted us with another chance. We have a chance to right the last two wrongs in SEC play and go out with a bang.”
The Aggies are led by Marcel Reed at quarterback who has thrown for 1,426 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. Le'Veon Moss has rushed for 765 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Defensively, the Aggies are led by BJ Mayes who has three interceptions, Nic Scourton has 5 sacks and Taurean York has 65 tackles.
This is a massive game for both teams. If Texas loses, its playoff spot will be in danger and the Longhorns would have lost to the two best teams on their schedule. The Aggies, meanwhile, need to win out to make the playoffs.
Ultimately, Texas' offense is legit and should be able to have success here as the Longhorns will punch their ticket to the SEC Championship game with a big road win here.
Prediction: Texas 24, Texas A&M 21
