Toledo vs Akron: Preview
Toledo is an eight-point favorite on the road while the over/under is set at 49 points.
The Rockets suffered a disappointing loss to Ohio in a game the offense has struggled.
“Very disappointing outcome,” Rockets coach Jason Candle said, via ToledoBlade. “[Bad] 15-minute stretch in the second half. Really inefficient offensively. Turned the ball over.”
Toledo Rockets wide receiver Jerjuan Newton was frustrated with how the team played in the second half.
“At the end of the day, just because you’re up at halftime doesn’t mean the game is over,” Newton said. “We had a couple guys who stayed in there and kept fighting. And we had a couple guys who didn’t. As a team, we’ve got to understand that no matter what happens, even if they did score a touchdown, that we’ve got to keep fighting and keep pushing.”
The Rockets are led by Tucker Gleason who has thrown for 2,168 yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Newton leads the team with 868 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
Toledo is led by Braden Awls who has three interceptions, Anthony Dunn Jr. has four sacks and Maxen Hook has 104 tackles.
Akron, meanwhile, snapped its two-game losing streak with the win over Kent State. The Zips are led by Ben Finley who has thrown for 2,410 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Jordon Simmons has rushed for 664 yards and two touchdowns, while Adrian Norton has 831 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. CJ Nunnally IV has five sacks and Bryan McCoy has 108 tackles.
Akron has struggled with consistency this season. Toledo, meanwhile, should come out strong here after a disappointing loss.
