Kansas State vs. Texas Tech will be an interesting Big 12 game

The Kansas State vs. Texas Tech game will be a very interesting battle between two teams trying to get going in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas State (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) is coming off a 29-21 road loss against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, while Texas Tech (3-3, 2-1) is on a two-game winning streak after a 39-14 road victory against the Baylor Bears.

This is a litmus test for both programs in determining how their seasons are going to go. Each team already has a conference loss and can ill-afford another one to compete for a spot in the Big 12 Conference Championship Game.

These offenses are performing at two different levels while the defenses are pretty similar statistically, so this should be intriguing. The Wildcats have won seven straight games over the Red Raiders, which adds another wrinkle to the matchup.

Kansas State's quarterback situation

The Kansas State Wildcats have been dealing with a very stable quarterback room as senior Will Howard is settled in the starting position. He has completed 106 of 173 passing attempts (61.3% completion) for 1,224 yards, 9 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. However, he is struggling with a 1 to 4 touchdown-to-interception ratio in conference action thus far.

Texas Tech's quarterback situation

The quarterback room for the Red Raiders looks a bit different as they had two quarterbacks splitting time under center. However, the situation has been simplified as senior Tyler Shough will miss 6-8 weeks after suffering a broken left fibula and could potentially have his season ended due to the injury.

As a result, sophomore Behren Morton will lead the offense. He is playing well, having completed 54 of 98 passes (55.1% completion) for 571 yards, 8 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions. We will see if he can push on against Kansas State.
