Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is entering his third season as the starting quarterback of the Longhorns. Ewers and Texas will look to go one (or two) better in 2024 after their CFP semifinals finish in 2023.
Will Quinn Ewers be a first-round pick?
Yes, Quinn Ewers is viewed as a potential first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. According to ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller, Ewers is in contention to be one of the top quarterback picks of the upcoming draft.
An AFC scout said this about the Longhorns star:
"Ewers has the best chance to break away from the pack because of the offense he's in and how well he's played. However, he'll have to cut down on the bonehead plays he makes a few times a game".
Quinn Ewers: 2025 NFL draft landing spots
Here's a look at Quinn Ewers' potential landing spots in the 2025 NFL draft.
#3, Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders enter the 2024 NFL season with Aiden O'Connell and Gardner Minshew competing for the QB1 spot. Both quarterbacks would struggle to start on most playoff-caliber teams, and the Raiders would be more than willing to draft a QB of Ewers' caliber.
Quinn Ewers would thrive in a big market like Las Vegas, thanks to his experience in Texas. It'll be interesting to see how Antonio Pierce utilizes the Texas-born star if the Raiders elect to draft him in 2025.
#2, New York Jets
Aaron Rodgers is the undisputed starter for the Jets; how long that remains the case is still a question. So, the Jets would likely look to select a young prospect full of potential to learn under their aging superstar.
Quinn Ewers fits that bill, as he'll be 22 years old by the time the 2025 NFL draft comes around. A year or two of learning from one of the greatest passers to play the game would be phenomenal for his development. Just look at what Jordan Love did last season with the Green Bay Packers.
#1, New York Giants
The New York Giants and Daniel Jones enter the 2024 season with an uneasy relationship. The Giants were open to drafting a QB in 2024, but all their favored choices were off the board by the time they picked at six.
Quinn Ewers will be available in the upcoming draft, and with that, the Giants will have another chance to replace Jones at QB. It'll be interesting to see how Brian Daboll and Co. approach his potential availability in 2025.
