2018 County Championship Division One round up, round 2: Runs and wickets galore
Youngsters shine at the Taunton
Ed Barnard and Matt Renshaw were arguably the heroes for their sides as Worcestershire wound up with another loss this season. The match that ended with a much dramatic run out by Renshaw, was never in control of the visitors to begin with. A plethora of dropped catches let the win slip away from their hands long before they dreamt of it. Talking of dreams, will this start to ignite hopes in the Somerset fans?
The century by Renshaw in the first innings and by Hildreth in the second were brilliant, of course, but was also heavily dependant on the poor fielding by the promoted team. The hosts themselves experienced some slip-offs in the cordon by the 42-year-old Marcus Trescothick. However, Cameron Bancroft's substitute, Matt Renshaw has been brilliant throughout with his bat and while fielding. He outshone the bolstering all-round performance by Barnard for Worcestershire.
Somerset won by 81 runs (Renshaw - 101 & 7, Hildreth - 48 & 111, Gregory - 7/86, Davey - 5/87)
