Zaheer Khan recommended for Arjuna Award

Zaheer Khan might be injured right now and waiting eagerly to know whether he would be able to play further in the ongoing test match, a good news is waiting back at home. In a recent development, the Selection committee recommended Zaheer Khan for Arjuna Award. Earlier, the BCCI had recommended the name of Zaheer Khan to the selection committee for the coveted Arjuna Award which the committee approved today.

Zaheer Khan is Indian cricket team’s bowling spearhead and has been in amazing form for last one year. Zaheer was instrumental in India’s world cup victory. His contribution in the test cricket especially in the last one year helped India to achieve the no. one test ranking in the international cricket. The contributions of Zaheer is honored by the Arjuna Award.

Zaheer Khan has played 78 test matches with and has 271 wickets to his name. In ODIs, too he has been impressive. In the 191 ODIs he has played, he has claimed 273 wickets. Zaheer will be the 44th Indian cricketer (men and women included) to be an Arjuna Awardee.

The selection committee also recommended Gagan Narang for the highest award in the field of Indian sports, the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award’.
