Ashes 2019: Joe Root refuses to blame World Cup for Ashes defeat and vows to stay on
England Test captain Joe Root refused to blame the one-day side's exploits at the World Cup for defeat in the Ashes series on Sunday, after Austraila retianed the urn at Old Trafford with a game to spare.
Root also indicated that he would stay on in his current role.
"I've been given a fantastic opportunity to captain the Test side and I will continue to keep working very hard at doing my best at that," he said. "I have to keep making sure I do everything I can to get this team in the best shape it can be to win as many games as possible."
