Left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman will become only the third player in the history of Bangladesh to represent an English county cricket team after signing for Sussex to play in the Natwest T20 blast. Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are the other Bangladeshi players who have represented Worcestershire and Nottinghamshire respectively. He becomes Sussex’s second overseas player this season after Ross Taylor to feature for them in the tournament.
The 20-year-old pace sensation from Bangladesh is available for the duration of the campaign following his stint with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. The SRH team bought Mustafizur for a hefty amount of Rs. 1.4 crore in the IPL auctions this year.

Mustafizur will also feature for the Sharks in the Royal London One-day Cup. He is extremely delighted to get this opportunity to play for Sussex. He said,”I am very excited to get an opportunity in county cricket.”
Mustafizur further added,” It has always been an ambition of mine to play in England and I am thankful to Sussex for this opportunity.I hope I can repay the faith they have shown in me with my performances on the field.”
Bright Potential
Mustafizur made his ODI debut against India in 2015. He picked up five wickets in his debut game and followed that up with a six-wicket haul to help Bangladesh win their maiden ODI series against India. The strong Indian batting line-up were literally clueless against his deadly off cutters as he made a grand entry in the international circuit.
Sussex head coach Mark Davis expressed his delight over the inclusion of Mustafizur and praised the young lad by saying,”He is a cricketer with incredible ability and is currently one of the bright young talents of world cricket.
According to Davis, it is Mustafizur’s bowling variations that make him a very difficult customer to bat against and calls him a great addition to the team.
