Bangladesh Premier League round-up: Victorians defeat the Dynamites; Tamim-Dilshan duo cancels Afridi's half-century

Ashar Zaidi was awarded MotM for his unbeaten 45

Comilla Victorians defeated Dhaka Dynamites by 10 runs in the seventeenth match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.

The Dynamites won the toss and chose to field first. The opening pair of Liton Das and Ahmed Shehzad added 18 runs for the first wicket before the latter was removed by Farhad Reza. Imrul Kayes, Shoaib Malik and Mashrafe Mortaza fell soon after with the Victorians down to 52 for the loss of four wickets by the 11th over.

Ashar Zaidi held the innings together and scored quickfire 45 runs in 29 balls to take his team to a respectable total of 141 runs. Das scored 31 runs as well and Shuvagata Hom played a cameo of 21 runs.

DD were touted to chase the score easily as they boast the likes of Kumar Sangakkara and Ryan ten Doeschate. They lost their first wicket with 18 runs on the board, just like the Victorians. Sangakkara scored 30 runs and then Nasir Hossain scored 32 runs, but none of the players played the part they were expected to.

When Hossain lost his wicket at the score of 99 in the 16th over, the dynamites still needed another 43 runs to win the match in 27 balls. However, some tight death bowling meant the Dynamites fell 10 runs short of the target.

Brief Score: Comilla Victorians (141 for 7) defeated Dhaka Dynamites (131 for 6)
