New Delhi, Dec 5 (IANS) The Indian Premier League (IPL) probe panel set up by the Supreme Court Thursday quizzed banned cricketers Ajit Chandila and Siddharth Trivedi for their involvement in the IPL spot fixing and betting scandal.

The probe committee, headed by Justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal, also “interacted” with senior journalists Pradeep Magazine, Sharda Ugra, and Aniruddh Bahl besides Delhi Police officials Wednesday.

“The Committee on 4th December 2013 interacted with Ms. Sharda Ugra, Senior Editor – ESPNcricinfo, officials of Delhi Police, Mr. Pradeep Magazine, Senior Journalist, Hindustan Times and Mr. Aniruddh Bahl, journalist,” said a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement.

“The Committee also interacted with players Ajit Chandila and Siddharth Trivedi.”

Sri Ganganagar District Cricket Association president and Constituted Attorney of former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, Mehmood Abdi Friday appeared before the committee. Abdi’s deposition lasted for over an hour.

“In aid of the investigation, the Committee has asked me to provide certain additional inputs which I will provide shortly,” Abdi said after his deposition, further adding that he placed before the committee relevant material in support of his input statement filed before the committee.

He added that because complex issues are involved, a thorough investigation is required into the menace of match fixing and severe curative measures are needed to fix the circumstances which create environment conducive for illegal and immoral activities like match/spot fixing.

The committee will next meet in Mumbai Dec 6, 7 and 8 to interact with the Mumbai police, officials of ICC-ACSU, RTI activist Naresh Makwani and some others if time permits.
