Dav Whatmore feels let down after Saeed Ajmal's scathing remarks

Saeed Ajmal stirs up yet another controversy

Dav Whatmore has expressed his disappointment over the remarks made on his coaching style by the Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal. Ajmal, in an outlandish interview with Geo TV, made no bones about the fact that the Sri Lankan born Australian coach’s methods have not come to benefit either him or his team.

To add fuel to the fire, the 35-year-old lavished praises on Whatmore’s predecessors, Waqar Younis and Mohsin Khan. In response to the spectacular outburst, Whatmore tweeted:

Pakistan are yet to win a single Test series after Whatmore took over the charge as the coach of the national team in 2012, on the back of a 3-0 whitewash against England in the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier, Ajmal revealed: “There is no difference, just that we are paying more to him, otherwise there is no difference. Dav is a foreign coach, he doesn’t know our language much, but he is a coach and has done coaching for various countries and has helped other teams win, he is not that bad. We had our coaches, we have our language.”

Comparing Whatmore to his previous coaches, Ajmal added: “Waqar handled us better. He used to stress on fitness and he used to say that if your fitness is good then you are 80 percent okay on the ground but if it’s only 20 percent then you cannot do anything on the ground.

“Mohsin did well. He would scold in front [of the team] if anyone is not taking wickets or a batsman is not scoring, irrespective of if he is senior or junior. If a junior was not performing then he would say that if you don’t, then you will not be able to keep your place.
