The 2013 edition of the one day cricket tournament NKP Salve Challenger Trophy will be aired live on ESPN and ESPN HD starting September 26. The tournament is played just before the start of Ranji Trophy season, with the purpose of showcasing the best domestic talent that the country has, as well as providing opportunities for younger players to make an impression.The venues and teams for the four day tournament are yet to be announced. All matches will be day-night.

The annual tournament is played between three sides, consisting of the best players in India. The three teams competing are Domestic one-day champions Delhi, India A & India B.Team names were changed for the first time in the 2006 version of the tournament. Last year again team names were changed to India A, India B and India C.

Established in the 1994–1995 season, from 1998–99 the tournament was known as the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy, named after former BCCI president N K P Salve – the man who is credited to bring the Cricket World Cup to the sub-continent in 1987.
