West Indies were the original powerhouses of ODI cricket. They won the first two editions of the World Cup - 1975 & 1979. In fact, they remained undefeated in the competition till they when they were defeated by India in 1983. They were the runners-up of the 1983 World Cup. Post-1983 World Cup, the Windies could never reach the same heights again.
