Lousy Selection - Team India Get Rid of Piyush Chawla

When one see’s Final 11 representing Team India against the Dutch on the Match Eve, one just feels baffled and shocked to the core!! Despite Piyush Chawla‘s poor form and performance in the World Cup matches, skipper MSD has decided to go ahead with the leg spinner in the match against the Netherlands.

Ignoring R. Ashwin at this point is a blunder of sorts, as it’s not only robbing the offie of some decent match practice but also exposing the lack of teeth in India’s below par Bowling attack.

Chawla’s inclusion in the squad for the WC in itself was a big surprise considering that the 22-Year old had not played in the Indian Colors in a while.

The leading Wicket Taker for India, till the Ducth Match is Zaheer Khan with 11 scalps, followed by Munaf Patel and Yuvi at 7 scalps each. All the more reason for the inclusion of R.Ashwin!!

Coming to the batting, not giving Sachin a break against the minnows again speaks the lack of confidence that our captain and the Think Tank depicts. They would have been better off by giving some match practice to Suresh Raina in the middle than just carrying him along and giving him a hit in the nets. That way you are preapred for the worst (Injuries), and if not all then most of your bench strength is just not warming the bench but are also match ready.

By the time this goes on-line I am not sure about Yusuf Pathan‘s batting slot, but ideally would love to see the beast in him get unleashed a little up in the batting order. For the amount of talent and power that this guy brings to the table it would be interesting to see what he can do a couple of slots up in the batting order.

Finally would like to see our captain cool, MSD, to start thinking out of box and aggressively as at times he goes into a shell, and wait for the things to happen, rather than making them happen.
