Asia Cup’s opener between host Bangladesh and Pakistan almost saw an upset but Ajmal’s twin wicket over pulled the match in Pakistan’s favour. Misbah-ul- Haq would have been a happy man till he heard from the match referee David Boon that he has been official warned for a slow over rate. Pakistan were found guilty of bowling two over short than the normal over rate in the match against Bangladesh on Sunday. Misbah-ul-Haq cannot let this happen again in the next 12 months, otherwise he will have to face a one match ban.
Misbah warned for Slow over rate
The International Cricket Council changed the regulations governing the punishment for slow over rates last June, meaning any captain fined for infringing these rules twice in a 12-month period would be automatically suspended for one game.
Since its implementation, Dhoni has been banned both in an ODI and in a Test match for a slow over rate. Australian Vice Captain Shane Watson has also been warned for the slow over rate in the third final of the 2012 CB Series which Australia won beating Sri Lanka 2-1 in the finals.
