The Indo-Pak match was yet to be broadcast, but the fervor was already evident, when people gathered at tea stalls and in college canteens, to discuss the epic match and what its consequence would be!

Even the most popular social networking site Facebook was not spared. Poll questions were floating on the web asking youth which side, they felt, was likely to win. Majority of the voters supported India, of course!

But when the match did commence, the excitement levels reached another level. With the prime ministers of both countries gracing the mega-event, the match turned into a matter of national pride!

And when both the teams proudly walked onto the field, they were cheered like never before!

The highlights of the opening of the match were: India winning the toss, Dhoni choosing to bat first and the stadium echoing songs like Lagaan and Chak De India!

Sehwag opened the game with such enthusiasm and skill that there wasn’t any looking back after that. However, the crowd frenzy and expectation cost the team his crucial wicket!

But the game had just begun! Players like Sachin and Raina showed their expertise on field and posted a decent total of 260 runs.

The match got only better in the second innings. Pakistan did have a good beginning to the match, but they lost their grip on the game soon and India overtook them like a pack of ferocious tigers, immensely bleeding blue!

The bowling and fielding of the Indian side is worth a mention and the best part was that all the five bowlers took two wickets each in the unsuccessful Pakistani run chase.

Ashish Nehra and Munaf Patel did a good job too inspite of doubts over their ability when they were included in the team playing against Pakistan.

All in all, the most awaited match did meet the public hype over it. A happy Dhoni could not contain his smile; even before the match got over and Sachin’s splendid batting earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ title.

Now we only wait to face Sri Lanka in the finals at Wankhede, Mumbai!
