Andhra Premier League 2024: Top run-getters and wicket-takers after Uttarandhra Lions vs Godavari Titans (Updated) ft. Srikar Bharat and Kodavandla S

The fourth game of the 2024 Andhra Premier League was between the Rayalaseema Titans and Vizag Warriors on Tuesday, July 2. Warriors won the game by eight wickets and 31 deliveries to spare. The second game of the day was a low-scoring thriller between the Uttarandhra Lions and Godavari Titans, with the Titans coming on top.

The Vizag Warriors won the toss and elected to field in the first fixture of the day against the Rayalaseema Titans. Within no time, the decision to bowl first paid dividends, as the Rayalaseema Titans’ batting never got going.

K Haneesh Reddy (22) and Gutta Rohit (21) top scored for Rayalaseema. Contributions from P Roshan Kumar (16), skipper Girinath Reddy (16), and Shaik Kamaruddin (19) helped them post a total of 130/9 in 20 overs. Kodavandla Sudharsan (3/17) and Gavvala Malikarjuna (3/15) were the pick of the bowlers for the Vizag Warriors.

Chasing a score of 131, the Vizag Warriors never looked in doubt. They chased the total with ease, courtesy of contributions from Ashwin Hebbar (56 off 46) and skipper Srikar Bharat (47 off 33). The Warriors galloped down the total in just 14.5 overs, winning the game by eight wickets.

The second game of the day between the Uttarandhra Lions and Godavari Titans saw the Lions win the toss and choose to bowl first. Godavari opener CR Gnaneshwar fell prey to Kaldhi Ajay Kumar early on in the innings. Gnaneshwar’s opening partner, Mamisi Vamsi Krishna, looked good for his 17 off just 13 deliveries, but he failed to capitalize on his good start.

Hemanth Reddy top-scored for the Godavari-based franchise, scoring 30 off just 16 balls at a strike rate of 187.50. Barring Reddy, the Godavari Titans’ batting lineup never got going. Yara Sandeep and SDNV Prasad scored 21 runs each and helped their team reach a score of 127/7 in 20 overs. Former KKR pacer Yarra Prithviraj took 3/15, restricting the Godavari Titans to a low score.

In what seemed to be a below-par score, the Uttarandhra Lions’ batting wasn't’ easy in the second inning. The Lions lost their top three quickly, with Seeram Venkata Rahul (31 off 33) and Bendala Satvik (38 off 26) taking responsibility. Their knocks helped the Lions rebuild after a top-order collapse.

In the end, M. Dheeraj Kumar’s batting heroics (26 off 22) helped the Uttarandhra Lions chase down the target in 19.5 overs with two wickets to spare.

Shaik Rasheed continues to top the most runs chart, scoring 100 runs in two innings with a strike rate of 135.14. Vizag Warriors’ batter Srikar Bharat is second on the top scorers list with a tally of 93 runs and a high score of 47.

Closely followed by Bharat is his teammate Ashwin Hebbar, who has accumulated a total of 91 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 124.66. P Roshan Kumar and Pinninti Tapaswi occupy the fourth and fifth positions, scoring 63 and 52 runs in the tournament so far.

Uttarndhra Lions’s Snaboyina Tarun is sixth on the list with 51 runs in two innings and a blistering strike rate of 196.15. Abhishek Reddy and K Haneesh Reddy see themselves in the seventh and eighth positions, scoring 45 runs each at a strike rate of 118.42 and 115.38, respectively. Manish Golamaru and DB Prasanth Kumar round off the top ten with 44 and 43 runs, respectively.

Kodavandla Sudharsan of the Vizag Warriors has claimed the most wickets in this season’s Andhra Premier League so far, taking six wickets in two innings.

Uttarandhra Lions bowlers are dominating the most wickets chart. They occupy the second, third, and fourth positions with wickets from Bandaru Ayyappa (5), Yarra Prithviraj (4), and Kaldhi Ajay Kumar (4). Gavvala Malikarjuna has scalped three wickets so far with an average of 12.33 and an SR of 14. Mallikarjuna is in the fifth spot.

The rest on the top Most Wickets list sees all the bowlers with two wickets each to their name. Shambu Akhil and Uddaraju Ahitesh Verma are sixth and seventh on the table. The eighth, ninth, and tenth spots are occupied by KV Saskianth, Karthik Raman, and Sirla Hima Srinivas, respectively.
