Burgher Recreation Club clinch maiden win in the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament 2024

In the first Group B game of the day, Burgher Recreation Club batted first after the game was reduced to 45 overs. They were bowled out for 154 runs in 44.1 overs. Dilshan de Soysa top-scored with a 110-ball 71 while Linal Subasinghe contributed with a vital 34-run knock.

Himesh Ramanakaye starred with the ball for the Police Sports Club, returning with figures of 5/18.

The game was interrupted yet again and the Police Sports Club were set a revised target of 140 runs in 28 overs. Nadeera Balasooriya (51) and Vishad Randika (46) played decent knocks. However, they were restricted to 134/9, falling short by six runs.

Chaminda Bandara picked up four wickets for Burgher Recreation Club as they defended their total in the end.

The second Group B fixture of the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament 2024 on Thursday was washed out due to rain. Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Nugegoda Sports Welfare Club managed to get to 84/2 in 21 overs. Skipper Tillakaratne Sampath scored 22 runs while Dilan Jayalth (41*) and Avishka Perera (13*) remained unbeaten before the game was called off. Kavika Dilshan picked up a couple of wickets.
