Karaikal Knights and White Town Giants locked horns in the ninth match of the Pondicherry Premier League 2024. Yanam Royals and Villianur Mohit Kings met in the following game.
The Strikers continue to hold their first spot with three wins in a row. The Giants jumped from fourth to second spot following a four-run victory against the Knights in the previous game. They have four points and a negative net run rate of -0.692.
Meanwhile, Kings retained their third position with four points. They have maintained a positive net run rate of 0.049 in four games.
Ossudu Accord Warriors descended from second to fourth, having won one and lost one in three games. Their last game against the Knights was abandoned due to rain.
The Knights have played two out of four games and have lost both of them, including the most recent one against the Giants.
The Royals have lost two out of their three games so far while one ended without a result. They currently boast the worst net run rate among the six teams.

Karaikal Knights elected to field first and restricted White Town Giants to 169/7. Akash Kargave, the Giants opener was dismissed for a duck while his partner and captain Ramachandran Ragupathy scored a 35-ball 55-run knock. Jay Pande (6) and Dandapani Prathapraj (5) failed to perform with the bat but Karthikeyaprasad Sai Hariram’s 41 run-a-ball and Nadeem Khan’s 29, helped them set a subpar total.
Bhupender Chauhan chipped in three wickets while Ankit Sharma, Rajeev Rahul, and S Santhosh Kumaran took one wicket each.
In reply, the Kniights had gotten off to a perfect start with a 90-run opening partnership between Sivamurugan Murugaiyan (55) and Gautam Dileep Shastry (33). Ankit Sharma also added 33 and Mohammed Aqib Jawad scored 18 off 10.
However, the rest of the team failed to back their top order, falling short of four runs. Adil Ayub Tunda took three wickets for the Giants while Rohan Suresh also picked up two wickets, and Bharat Sharma and Gaurav Yadav claimed one each.
Yanam Royals and Villianur Mohit Kings met in the following game. The Royals batted first and posted a 167-run target despite losing their top order for a duck. K Sai Satwik’s 62 and Ameer Zeeshan’s unbeaten 77 off 57 played a major role.
However, the game was called off after the first half due to heavy rain.
