Northern Superchargers beat Southern Brave by seven wickets in Match No.8 of the Hundred Men 2024 on Tuesday, July 30. The Superchargers, who were languishing at the bottom of the table, moved up to the fifth spot.
They also improved their net run rate from -2.350 to -0.570. The Brave, on the other hand, stayed fourth with two points, thanks to a win and a loss apiece.
Manchester Originals returned to the bottom of the table after losses in both their matches against Welsh Fire and Trent Rockets. Apart from the Originals, the London Spirit are also yet to open their account in the tournament.
Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire are third and fourth in the table, respectively. Oval Invincibles stayed on top with four points and a net run rate of +1.295.
Nicholas Pooran leads the charge for Northern Superchargers
After opting to bat first, the Brave posted decent score of 146 for the loss of eight wickets. Alex Davies got his team off to an impressive start before Mitchell Santner dismissed him. James Coles smashed 26 runs of 13 balls, laced with two fours and as many sixes, injecting momentum in the middle overs.
Kieron Pollard wielded the willow to good effort, making 37 off 22 balls. Adil Rashid was the pick of the bowlers for the Superchargers with figures of 20-11-19-1. Callum Parkinson also accounted for two wickets.
The Superchargers chased down the target with 15 balls left. Nicholas Pooran was their star performer after scoring 62 runs off 34 deliveries with the aid of four fours and five sixes.
Skipper Harry Brook stayed unbeaten on 34 off 20 balls, taking the Superchargers past the finish line. Akeal Hosein, Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan picked up one wicket apiece.
