Captain Baba Aparajith counterpunched with a run-a-ball 41 at number three, while middle-order batter Daryl Ferrario made 23 runs from 13 balls at the death. Abhishek Tanwar launched four sixes in his eight-ball 26*-run cameo to take Chepauk Super Gillies to a competitive 156/7 from 20 overs.

For the Salem Spartans, Sunny Sandhu (2/20) and M Poiyamozhi (2/13) emerged as the standout performers with the ball. Chasing 157, Salem Spartans lost each of their top three batters to Rahil Shah (3/13) and M Silambarasan (1/10) to slip to 44/3 in 10.4 overs.

Robin Bist, Muhammed Adnan Khan, and Harish Kumar punched out dazzling 30s in the middle. However, their collective brilliance fell short in front of the tight spells of Shah, Silambarasan, and Ganeshan Periyaswamy. Chepauk Super Gillies eventually secured a 23-run win to jump to the second spot on the TNPL 2024 points table.
