UP T20 League 2024 Most Runs and Most Wickets after Kanpur Superstars vs Gorakhpur Lions (Updated) ft. Mukesh Kumar and Vineet Panwar

In a thrilling contest in match 30 of the ongoing UP T20 League 2024, the Kanpur Superstars beat the Gorakhpur Lions by seven wickets. It took place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, September 9.

After winning the toss and opting to field first, the Kanpur Superstars stopped their opponents from gaining any momentum among their batters at all, taking quick wickets. Barring Hardeep Singh (29 runs off 16 deliveries), the rest of the Gorakhpur Lions batters failed to cross even the 20-run mark in the first innings.

Vineet Panwar (3/28) and Mukesh Kumar (2/11) were instrumental in restricting the Gorakhpur Lions to a meager score of 104 runs before losing all 10 wickets.

Faced with a target of 105 runs, the Kanpur Superstars, placed fifth in the table, easily scored the required number of runs with 15 deliveries to spare. Courtesy of a splendid partnership between Shoaib Siddiqui and Adarsh Singh, the Superstars scored 108/3 in 17.3 overs.

Swastik Chikara of the Meerut Mavericks remains perched at the top of the table with 431 runs. Sameer Rizvi, who had a match to forget on Monday after scoring just a solitary run, held on to his second-place spot with 366 runs in total. However, Rizvi’s average dropped as a result of Monday’s horror show, falling from 40.56 to 36.6.

While nothing went the way for Gorakhpur Lions on Monday, Akashdeep Nath did manage to jump to third place in the UP T20 League 2024 highest run-scorer table. Akashdeep, who scored 17 runs off 29 deliveries against Kanpur Superstars, has scored a total of 289 runs so far. However, even Akashdeep had a drop in his average score, falling to 41.29 from an impressive 45.33.

Meanwhile, Kanpur Superstars’ hero of the day, Adarsh Singh, who scored 35 runs off 39 deliveries in the second innings, jumped to fourth position with 284 total runs scored. Adarsh leapfrogged over Samarth Singh of the Lucknow Falcons, who is now fifth with 277 runs in 10 matches. However, Adarsh has a low average of 28.4 and a not-too-good strike rate of 118.33, which will of concern to his team going ahead in the season.

Madhav Kaushik (245 runs) and Priyam Garg (221) are currently ranked sixth and seventh respectively. Arun Juyal of the Gorakhpur Lions, who did not play on Monday, is eighth with 216 runs followed by Rinku Singh (210 runs) and Kavya Teotia (206 runs).

Zeeshan Ansari (21 wickets in 10 matches), Vipraj Nigam (20 wickets in 10 matches), and Sunil Kumar (16 wickets in 10 matches) occupy the top three positions. They are followed by Abhinandan Singh (15 wickets in 9 matches). Ankit Rajpoot of the Gorakhpur Lions retained his position in fifth place with 15 wickets despite only taking one wicket on Monday.

Kanpur Superstars’ bowler Vineet Panwar, who took three wickets on Monday, rose to sixth place in the UP T20 League 2024 most wickets list. He has a total of 12 wickets this year. He is followed by Yash Garg of the Meerut Mavericks with 12 wickets in 10 matches. Shivam Sharma, another Gorakhpur Lions bowler who took one wicket against the Kanpur Superstars, dropped down one place to eighth spot with 12 wickets.

Mukesh Kumar, another Kanpur Superstar bowler who had a two-wicket haul against the Lions, rose one place to ninth spot. He has picked up 11 wickets in just six matches so far. Rounding the top 10 in the UP T20 League 2024 most wickets list is Piyush Chawla of the Noida Super Kings with 11 wickets in nine matches.
