Kashi Rudras bagged a 79-run win over Noida Super Kings in the 28th match of Uttar Pradeshý T20 League 2024. Lucknow Falcons, meanwhile, secured a seven-wicket victory over Meerut Mavericks in the 29th game.
Meerut Mavericks continue to lead the standings despite their loss, bagging 16 points with eight wins and two losses. Lucknow Falcons remain second with six wins and four losses, amassing 12 points.
Kashi Rudras moved from the fifth to the third spot with five wins and as many losses, picking up 10 points. Gorakhpur Lions and Kanpur Superstars slid one spot each to be fourth and fifth, amassing eight points apiece at a net run rate of -0.028 and -0.297, respectively.
Noida Super Kings continue to hold the wooden spoon with two wins and eight losses, picking up only four points.
Karan Sharma plays a captain’s knock for Kashi; Lucknow put up an all-round show
Moving to the details of the day's first game, Kashi Rudras were asked to bat first after losing the toss. Captain Karan Sharma smashed 69 runs off 53 balls with the aid of five fours and three sixes to set the tone for his side.
Although other top-order batters failed to make much of an impact, middle-order batter Prince Yadav scored 36 valuable runs off 35 balls as Kashi posted 167/6 in 20 overs. Bobby Yadav pocketed a three-fer, conceding 40 runs for Noida.
In reply, Noida were in all sorts of trouble, losing three wickets for just three runs in 1.3 overs. Although Shivam Saraswat (20) and Prashant Veer (21) tried to resurrect the innings, it wasn't enough as Noida were bundled out for 88 in 18 overs.
For Kashi, Sunil Kumar scalped a three-wicket haul, conceding 21 runs in four overs while Atal Bihari Rai picked up two wickets for 10 runs in four overs.
In the second match, Meerut Mavericks were asked to bat first after losing the toss. Captain Madhav Kaushik (21), Rituraj Sharma (29), and Yash Garg (29) scored important runs as the Mavericks posted a below-par total of 122/9 in 20 overs.
Parv Singh, Vipraj Nigam, Navneet, and Akshu Bajwa scalped two wickets apiece for Lucknow while Abhinandan Singh pocketed one wicket for 17 runs.
In reply, Lucknow Falcons looked decent enough with the scoring rate. Samarth Singh (50*) and Kritagya Singh (35) were the star batters as the Falcons chased down the target in 17.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.
