Mathew Sinclair made his Test debut against West Indies at Wellington in December 1999. He smashed a wonderful 214 which included 22 fours. Because of his heroics, New Zealand won the match by an innings and 105 runs and he was adjudged the Player of the match.
Sinclair made his ODI debut on February 26, 2000, against Australia at Christchurch. He couldn't trouble the scorers and was out on the first ball.
