Suresh Raina’s 138-ball 145 has set Tamil Nadu a steep challenge

The third day of the seventh round of Ranji Trophy matches saw a brisk century from Suresh Raina, as several other brave performances from teams around the country have set us up for a cracking final day of action when play resumes tomorrow.

Suresh Raina’s ton took UP to a total of 273/5 giving Tamil Nadu a target of 391 at the end of the 3rd day. Raina’s form continued after his 61 in the first innings and he managed a quick 145 off just 138 balls in the 2nd innings, helping his team earn a good position in the test. Tamil Nadu will resume play at 5/0.

An easy win for Kerala against Goa as they win over them by an innings and 83 runs. An all-round bowling performance by Kerala helped them take away this match by restricting Goa to a total of 167 in the second innings.

Munaf Patel and Irfan Pathan both grabbed 3 wickets each to help Baroda seal their win against Punjab by an innings and 116 runs. Punjab were all out for 147. Kedhar Devdhar was the Man of the Match for his 186 in the first innings.

Saurabh Wakaskar reached 161 as his team Railways closed up to 285/1. He shared a solid partnership with V Cheluvaraj, who stands not out at 70, giving Railways a lead of 171 runs. Karn Sharma took 7 wickets for Railways in the first innings.

Shahbaaz Nadeem claimed 6 wickets against Tripura as the latter trail by 96 runs with just 1 wicket in hand as they look forward to lose this match against Jharkand by an innings. Nadeem’s brilliant bowling has helped Jharkand to restrict Tripura to a total of 132/9, with Jharkhand scoring 394 and declaring the first innings.

Jalaj Saxena claimed 5 wickets against Gujarat at an economy of 1.96 and came into open the innings for Madhya Pradesh, who still need 310 runs to seal this match against Gujarat. Gujarat scored 202 in their second innings giving MP a target of 314.

Maharashtra trail by another 232 runs against Bengal, who scored 528 in the first innings with a ton from Sudip Chatterjee. Maharashtra batsman Rahul Tripathi looks set on the crease as he scored his ton and is batting on 116 not out with Maharashtra at 296/3.
