Rwanda cricketer Eric Dusingizimana will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest net practice session at a stretch from 11th to 13th May 2016 at the Kicukiro Cricket Oval in the Rwandan capital city of Kigali.
Dusingizimana, who is the captain of the Rwandan national cricket team, is expected to the break the incredible feat of Virag Mare, who is the current world record holder for batting the longest at a stretch during a net practice session.
The 24-year-old Indian had batted for 50 hours straight back in 2015 to break a certain English duo's record and register his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.
However, the 29-year-old Dusingizimana is supposed to bat for 51 hours at a stretch in his quest to glory. The Rwanda captain seemed quite confident to smash Mare's record by batting non-stop for a period of 2 days and 3 hours.
“My strongest point is my persistence, I will never give up till the last ball,” he told the press.
Eric Dusingizimana started his cricket career back in 2006 and has played for a number of Rwandan clubs like Young Tigers, Impala Titans and Dugout Cricket Club before re-joining his first club, Right Guards in 2014.
The 29-year-old is one of the salient members of the Rwandan national cricket team. He has previously helped his country win the ICC Division III Tournament at Accra in Ghana back in 2011.
When asked about the state of cricket in the Central African landlocked country, Dusingizimana said, “We need to build the future of cricket in Rwanda, set up good cricket facilities as well as help improve the sport’s image on the international stage.”
Eric Dusingizimana has won a number of domestic tournaments including the 50-over Premier League with Right Guards back in 2006. He was also adjusted as the ‘Player of the Tournament’ after helping his then-side, Impala Titans win the Twenty20 silverware in 2010.
