Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav, biggest cricket tournament in Rajasthan's history, to start from 26th December

#Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav will be the biggest ever cricket tournament in Rajasthan's history

The state of Rajasthan is all set to host the biggest cricketing tournament ever played on their soil. The #Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav, organised by Wonder Cement, a part of the RK Group in the marble industry, will see close to 4000 teams from across the state competing against one another to prove their dominance and emerge as state champions.

The main aim of the tournament is to reach out to hundreds of thousands of cricket lovers in Rajasthan and try to encourage the participation of people from all age groups. The hope is that getting more people to play will help young players such that their confidence and morale is boosted and they are encouraged to take up the game in the future.

“The tournament is aimed at providing the best facilities to the players at the grassroots level. We will not only see the regular male players but also female players and differently abled players in this tournament,” said Vivek Patni, the Director of Wonder Cement, in a press conference held at the SMS Convention centre in Jaipur.

All-female teams will get direct entry to the district level matches

What makes this tournament different from others is the fact that it will have seven teams comprising of all female players and one team of differently abled players. These teams have been exempted from the tehsil level matches and will get a direct entry to the district level.

“We will have eight special teams, seven all female team and one team of differently abled players and these eight teams will get a wild entry i.e the teams won’t have to go through the lucky dip which will take place on the 20th of December and they will straight away play the district level matches,” said Mr Patni.

Some special rules have also been added to make the tournament a lot more interesting. For example, the team that will have a female member in their side will get seven bonus runs before the start of the match. When asked about this rule, Mr. Patni said, “The idea was to encourage female participation so that more and more number of sides include female players in their team.”

Apart from the above mentioned rule, there are a few other teams that are unique in their own way. For example, there is a team that is composed only of coolies, a team full of police officers, a team of doctors and a team comprising of all members from the electricity board.

“Our objective for the event was to get every part of Rajasthan to participate in the activity we are doing and the response which we have received has surpassed our own expectations,” said Mr. Tarun Singh Chauhan, the advisor of Wonder Cement, during the Press Conference.
