Rashid Khan is the only bowler in history to have taken 100 ODI wickets in less than 50 matches

The Afghanistan spin sensation Rashid Khan claimed his 100th ODI wicket in his 44th match and wrote his name in the history books, beating the previous record set by the Australian paceman Mitchell Starc of 100 wickets in 52 matches.

The 19-year-old achieved the feat by dismissing Shai Hope during the final of the World Cup qualifier in Harare, Zimbabwe. Afghanistan have already qualified for next year's ODI World Cup after they beat Ireland by 5 wickets in their last super-six match.

Afghanistan had a quite remarkable turnaround in the tournament. After losing their first three group matches, they went on to win all the remaining matches to book their place in the world cup.

At 19 years of age, Khan also becomes the youngest bowler to achieve this feat, beating the record set by Pakistani spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who achieved the milestone at the age of 20 years.

The youngster now becomes the only player in the history to have taken 100 ODI wickets in less than 50 matches. The leggie has become the fastest to 100 ODI wickets in terms of the number of balls bowled as well. It took him just 2139 deliveries to reach the milestone breaking Micthell Starc's previous record of 2452.

Khan's bowling average of 14.12 per wicket and strike rate of 21.4 balls per wicket are the best among all bowlers who have taken at least 100 wickets.

Though a majority of his wickets came against team likes Zimbabwe and Ireland, the way he has performed and dominated in various T20 leagues proves his mettle.

Here is the list of top ten bowlers who were quickest to the 100 ODI wickets mark.
