The UP T20 League 2024 season continued on Saturday, September 7 with two last-ball crackers in Lucknow.
In the first match of the double-header, Kanpur Superstars batted and managed just 119/7 from 20 overs. Captain Sameer Rizvi top-scored with 46 from 38 deliveries, while the rest of the line-up crumbled in front of Noida Super Kings bowlers Mohammad Shuaib (2/14) and Piyush Chawla (1/18).
Despite chasing a moderate target of 120, the Super Kings were restricted to just 117/8. For the Superstars, Mukesh Kumar unfurled the spell of the innings with figures of 3/23, while Vineet Panwar and Pankaj Kumar chipped in with two wickets each.
In match 27 of the season, Meerut Mavericks and Gorakhpur Lions put up a high-scoring thriller at the Ekana Stadium. For the Mavericks, unbeaten opener Swastik Chikara shaped an electric century by scoring 114 runs from just 68 deliveries. Captain and India international Rinku Singh also blasted 44 swift runs at the death with three boundaries and two sixes.
Later, Gorakhpur Lions fell just a run short despite an incisive 59 from captain Akshdeep Nath. Rajat Sanserwal (2/36) and Yash Garg (2/16) halted Lions’ juggernaut with timely breakthroughs throughout the run-chase.
UP T20 League 2024 Most Runs List
Swastik Chikara soared past Sameer Rizvi to become the leading run-getter of the UP T20 League 2024 season with 431 runs from nine innings. Rizvi, meanwhile, slipped to second on the table with 365 runs. Akshdeep Nath rose five spots to jump to number three with 272 runs after smacking 59 against Meerut Mavericks.
Adarsh Singh (249 runs), Samarth Singh (227 runs), Madhav Kaushik (224 runs), Aryan Juyal (216 runs) and Priyam Garg (214 runs) all went down a rung each to occupy the subsequent five slots on the batting charts in that order. Rinku Singh jumped into top through his 44-run knock and is currently ranked ninth on the table with 210 runs from nine innings. Kavya Teotia retained the tenth position on the batting table with 206 runs.
UP T20 League 2024 Most Wickets List
Zeeshan Ansari took a wicket to move to 20 scalps from nine innings for the Meerut Mavericks. Currently leading the wicket-taking charts of the season, he is ahead of Vipraj Nigam (18 wickets) by two scalps.
Abhinandan Singh and Ankit Rajpoot retained themselves at number three and number four with 14 scalps each. Sunil Kumar also remained at fifth position for taking 12 wickets in nine matches.
Yash Garg (12 wickets), Shivam Sharma (11 wickets) and Piyush Chawla (11 wickets) rose a spot each to occupy sixth, seventh and eighth positions, respectively, on the table. Vijay Kumar (10 wickets) went down three rungs to slip to number nine on the table, while Mukesh Kumar jumped back into top 10 with nine wickets in five matches.
