The VB Thiruvallur Veerans, owned by former India and Tamil Nadu player, VB Chandrasekhar, launched their team logo, jersey and anthem at Savera Hotel, Chennai ahead of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TN Premier League).

The logo was unveiled by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) President N Srinivasan. He was accompanied on the stage by Ravinder Reddy, the Director of Bharathi Cements and R Chellappan, the MD of Swelect Energy, alongwith the team owner of the Veerans.

Adding a touch of nostalgia to the event, Chandrasekhar was joined by his Ranji Trophy winning teammates of 1987-88. M Senthilnathan, V Sivaramakrishnan, PC Prakash, M Venkataramana, D Vasu, Dwarkanath Girish, S Vasudevan UR Radhakrishnan and Bharat Arun were present at the event. Chandrasekhar hoped the Veerans will follow the legacy of the champion team.

"It was like a flashback of my playing days and it so happened that everything came together nicely (where we could have the winning team back on stage.) I wish I could have had (Krishnamachari) Srikkanth, L Sivaramakrishnan among others, who were also a part of the team, but I am happy for those who could make it today,” Chandrasekhar said as he reminisced the old days.

When asked about the young Veerans side, Chandrasekhar said, "We have a young team, which has a lot of bubble and the energy is slowly soaking in. If we start on the right track, we will do well. It is all about finding the rhythm and it will boil down to how well we play on that particular day."

Srinivasan said that he has been following Chandrasekhar's cricket for a long time and is glad a sportsman is giving back to cricket. "TN Premier League is going to make a huge difference and hopefully we have more Tamil Nadu players playing in the National level. I am sure VB (Chandrasekhar) will put in all his experience to train the young players," he added. Srinivasan also launched the green and blue jersey of the Veerans along with the Tamil Nadu Ranji player, Malolan Rangarajan.

The Veerans' logo, designed by Shwetha Chandrasekhar, represents a bearded warrior (Veeran) in a samurai costume, holding a sword in his right hand. "After a lot of design changes that included mostly westernized designs, I had a thought of designing something more Indian and then finalised the warrior holding the sword as the logo.”

She also added, "The samurai is stepping forward, which also matches with our tagline, 'vision for the future.' Whatever it is, don't look back; just charge forward is what the logo depicts. “

The team anthem, VB Thiruvallur Veerans, designed by composer Ved Shankar, who was also a former student of the VB Cricket Academy, is a hard-hitting peppy number which had the young students of the Academy, present in the audience, cheer loudly. "The main theme of the song was flashback. Composing a tune for a cricket team made me miss my cricket days as I wanted to go back to train at the Nest (in the VB Cricket Academy)," Ved said.
