Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma marriage: Timeline

Indian skipper Virat Kohli and longterm partner, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma confirmed that they have married in a ceremony in Italy.

Speculation had been mounting for the past few weeks, reaching its peak when the actor was spotted with her family and family priest at the international airport. Kohli and Sharma were also alleged to have sent out invitations to neighbours and "close family friends", although only two members of the cricketing fraternity were invited to the ceremony - Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, who is currently out of the side, having failed the yo-yo test.

Some details about their wedding:

The pair were alleged to be marrying in Milan, but wed in an 800-year-old villa/resort named Borgo Finochietto near Tuscany.

Early on the 8th of December, Sharma, her parents and brother Karnesh were spotted at Mumbai's Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport, along with family priest, Maharaj Anant Baba of Anant Dham Atmabodh Ashram in Haridwar. The party are alleged to have flown Swiss.

Kohli, meanwhile, boarded his own flight from the capital, New Delhi. While Kohli is a native of the city, this is also reported to have been done to divert attention.

While a religious ceremony has been performed, the pair are expected to register their marriage at Mumbai's Bandra family court in early January, with India Today reporting the actor has already acquired forms for that date.

Reports that the two had been due to marry had been doing the rounds for some time, but gained traction when Kohli recused himself from India's Test and ODI series against Sri Lanka for what he said were "personal reasons."

Although only family and close friends were said to have been present at the ceremony, it was not short of fanfare. Reports also suggest bhangra dancers were seen entering the property to the beats of the dhol.

The pair both confirmed the news on their respective Twitter accounts, with different pictures from the ceremony.
