Who will win the T20 WC 2012?

This year’s World Cup T20 is going to be hosted by Sri Lanka. With 13-14 teams competing for that particular cup,this tournament is really going to be very interesting and action-packed. But the question that will be in everybody’s mind is,’Who will win the Cup?? Will it be India or England or Australia?’

Well,my explanation might just help you out to find those answers.

AUSTRALIA - According to me, this team has got everything required to be champions. They have got a dangerous batting line-up which includes David Hussey, Shane Watson, Mathew Wade, Mike Hussey. David Warner is a dangerous addition to the squad. He hits the balls hard,times the ball well and is a perfect match-winner. They can put up a huge total on the board and thus put pressure on the opponent team with their pace-men.

The next factor for which they can win the cup is their dynamic fielding and outstanding bowling efforts. Shane Watson, Brett Lee, James Pattinson, Clint McKay, Ben Hilfenhaus – all are match winners. They bowl at a quick pace and offer variation in their bowling. Doherty is a good spin bowler and David Hussey is also a handy option for the skipper when it comes to spin bowling. So to me,this team has got the fairest chance to win the World Cup.

ENGLAND - After Australia, this team has got the best chance to win the tournament, according to me. They have got a good batting line-up which includes Kevin Pietersen, Keiswetter, Ian Bell etc. They can put up runs between 160-170 runs and defend their total very well. But their problem is their inconsistency. If they are able to overcome this inconsistency,they can win the cup, or will at least reach the finals.

INDIA - You might be wondering why I have put this team in the third position. The main reason is the poor bowling department. It has bowlers like Praveen Kumar, Irfan Pathan, Vinay Kumar, Dinda etc. among the pace bowlers and Ashwin, Raina, Rohit sharma and Yusuf Pathan among the spinners. But still they lack something which really affects Dhoni when his boys are defending totals. The team has got the strongest batting line up in the world and the fielding in the recent matches has been spectacular. So if Dhoni can improve his team’s bowling ,the 2007 champions can be the 2012 champions.

SOUTH AFRICA - This team’s batting is superb. Kallis, Smith, A.B etc. are all outstanding batsmen. Dale Steyn, the Morkel brothers, Harris are great bowlers. But there are some problems in the team for which they have not really performed well in this format of the game. They play ODIs and Tests well but never have played T20 cricket like a champion team. This might be the time they do, so to me, they are the fourth favorite in this tournament.

SRI LANKA - They are going to host this tournament and so without any doubt the advantage of home conditions will help the Lankans a lot. If Jayawardane and Dilshan are able to give the team a good start, then they will surely score a huge total. Sangakkara is there to lift things in the middle. The middle order of the team is also very strong. They can put up a good total and defend it. Malinga is the spearhead of the team’s bowling attack and he is capable of destroying the opponent’s batting line up within 90 runs. If the Lankans play their natural game, then surely Mahela will lift the cup and make his country proud.

PAKISTAN - They have won already once the T20 World Cup earlier. The batting line-up includes Hafeez,Yonus Khan, Jamshed, Umar Akmal who give the team a good start. In the middle order there is Afridi rather ‘BOOM BOOM AFRIDI’ who can be very dangerous in the death overs. He is one of the world’s most dangerous batsmen. The bowling is also quite strong. Umar Gul, Cheema, Ajmal, Afridi and Hafeez are good bowlers. But the main problem of this team is match fixing. This can deteriorate their forms too. To me, this year Pakistan can’t really win the tournament.

BANGLADESH - This team performed exceedingly well against the Asian teams but I don’t think they can be champions defeating Aussies or the English men.

OTHERS-According to me, the Kiwis or the Irishmen or the West Indians does not have the capability of being champions as yet.

So,these are my explanations. But we should always remember that t20 format of cricket is nothing less than a lottery. Please,dont be astonished if Ireland become the champions.
