Kolkata, January 20 (IANS)

International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) President P.V.K. Mohan on Tuesday said that he plans to create an Asian Tour for the sport, adding that he will also try to get cue sports included in Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

Mohan said he would try and get an Asian Tour for snooker, like the one in Europe, where Asian players will get a platform to showcase their talent without having to travel to European countries.

“We will try and create an Asian Tour where Asian players can participate. Otherwise, it is extremely difficult to go and play in the European championships because of the costs in travelling overseas,” Mohan said at the Bengal Rowing Club here.

“We already have the Player Tour Championship (PTC) and World Snooker Circuit. Now we plan to make the Asian Tour a reality.”

Mohan is also hopeful of introducing cue sports at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“We are talking about the possibility of cue sports being a part of Olympics through OCA (Olympic Council of Asia) which is constantly helping us. We are trying to make it a part of the Asian and Commonwealth Games too,” said Mohan.

He added that different formats were being tried out to suit the television audiences.
