Pankaj Advani claims 15th world title by winning IBSF World Snooker Championship

Advani beat China's Zhua Xintong 8-6

Cuesports wunderkind Pankaj Advani increased his collection of world titles to fifteen as he beat China’s Zhua Xintong in the IBSF World Snooker Championship, reports the Times Of India. He won eight of six games in the best-of-15 final to clinch the event, held at the Sunrise Crystal Bay resort in Hurghada, Egypt.

This is the 30-year-old’s second world title in as many months, after he captured the IBSF Billiards title in September. With this title, Advani became the first cueist in history to win both the short format(6 red) and the long format(15 red) titles in the same calendar year.

Advani looked like he would romp home to a win when he led 6-2, but the 18-year-old Chinese prodigy held his own against his storeyed storied opponent and made it 6-4. Advani won the next frame, but Xintong was by no means done, as he won two more frames to make it 7-6.

The fourteenth frame saw Xintong gain the upper hand, but the ‘Golden Boy’ from Bengaluru’s experience would shine as he kept his calm to win the frame and the tournament with a break of 109.

A 15ired world title has been a long time coming for Advani, who won his last title in 2003 in China. Egypt has brought him fortune for the second time, as Advani won his first 6-red title there last year.
